Yasin Ansari

Web Designer & The Kenyan

It takes a lot to walk into the Cape Town QuirkStation and simply fit in, but that's just what Yasin did. Our very first Jozi-based designer started his Quirk experience with some time in Cape Town just so that we could make sure he had the goods - and he passed with flying colours.

Born and raised in Kenya, Yasin has a childhood as diverse and interesting as the contents of the Quirk fridge, although just a tad more pleasant. Time in both Kenyan and English schools left him with a well rounded education that he followed up with studies to be a light aircraft engineer before the allure of web design took him to a college in India for two years.

From doing web design for a hotel chain to catching flamingos in the Lake Nakuru Park in Kenya, Yasin was exceptionally busy before joining Quirk. (Oh, and in case you were wondering, no, the 'run and lunge' method of catching flamingos apparently does not work).

Yasin has spent the last six years freelancing and acquiring the most eclectic range of design experience by working on many sites which include Mseni Lodge, Michael Black Investment Properties and BGI Business Consulting. He brings his experience to Quirk along with his love of jeans (Quirk uniform), obsession with music (iTunes. Mandatory), indulgence in magazines (what are books?) and hatred of speed cameras (ah, the perfect QuirkStar).

Stationed in Jo'burg, Yasin is set to provide much-needed support to the Cape Town designers taking on all the day-to-day tasks that need to be done. His talkative nature and passion for the Internet should help him fit in up there and the Cape Town QuirkStars are looking forward to many, let's just call them animated, phone calls.
