One thing you learn about Shaun Ross Oakes straight off the bat is that you should probably never take anything he says seriously. If you did, he would have you believing ridiculous things like the fact that he lost his sense of taste in a motorcycle accident or that he is a Danny K fan.
What is true, is that he is the latest recruit to Quirk's Ministry of Cunning Plans (also known as the SEM Team), he hates the colour yellow and he completed a diploma in programming from CTI in 2001 and is currently working towards a BCom in Business Management through Unisa.
Nearly five years in the SEM industry have left Shaun with an illustrious CV and notoriety online that include columns on Tech Leader, Sports Leader and his own blog that has even attracted more followers than just his mom.
His time before Quirk (yes, there is such a thing) was spent at Synergize IT where his diverse role included looking after accounts, coming up with SEO strategies, coding, PPC and even liaising with clients. We also hear he makes a mean cup of coffee, which is why we sat him right next to our awesome cappuccino machine.
So far, his career is going exactly as planned and he aims to add 'super' to the QuirkStar name. (C'mon, it's kinda cute!) After wisely staying for a drink on his first Friday, it looks like Shaun is going to fit in well, despite his lack of pets, fear of horses and insane height (we're a mini bunch really). The only thing we are a little worried about is his claim to wear the same pair of black socks every day...
