The first thing people notice about Rainer is his metal-head long hair, a couple of earrings and possibly the tattoo on his shoulder. Good thing there's not a chip on his shoulder too - Rainer is a perfectly modest and respectable human being. Well, at least that's what he promised us when we hired him and he has lived up to it so far!
Music-addict Rainer reckons that he is a logical yet imaginative person and it helps him to "come up with crazy ideas and tries to make them work".
After a few academically fruitless and alcoholically fruitful months at TUKS in 2003, Rainer put down his beer can, picked up a watering can and flew over to England to work at a plant nursery. Then he decided he needed to replace the watering can with a calculator (an obvious progression) and came back home to start a B.Com in Marketing Management at the University of Johannesburg, which is where he found Quirk.
So far he hasn't got through much of his ridiculously/extremely long list of extreme/ridiculous things to do - only skydiving, Ninjitsu (Carlos could take some tips), rock climbing, abseiling, free-running (Parkour) and a lot of crazy off-road cycling. Rainer reckons that if every scar tells a tale, he's got a novel written on his body. We'll take his word for it.
Rainer's favourite campfire story (cos naturally we all have one) is about the time he was falsely arrested for driving his own car. He tried to convince the police that they had their records bungled, but they were having none of it and threw him in the slammer for the night. Luckily for Quirk, they let him out with a mumbled apology the next morning - we're not sure the Jozi office would cope without him.
"LIVE life while you still have a life to live!"
