Senior Designer & Princess of Power
Orla Hunter joined Quirk Jozi in November 2011 as a Senior Designer with a nose for good bourbon. After all, it’s the nectar of the Gods you know? Although she hoped to grow up to become She-Ra, she reluctantly accepted that superheroism just wasn’t in her blood and settled on finishing up school at the National School of Arts.
Then it was off to the Design School of South Africa where Orla completed her Higher Diploma in Graphic Design and Multimedia – she’s since gained years of industry experience working at various marketing and ad agencies before spending 4.5 years at Osiris Trading as a Multimedia Designer, developing a bizarre sense of humour along the way. Orla then spread her wings and went solo to freelance for 8 months before joining our team. She said she chose Quirk ‘cause the future’s online and the QuirkStars are really smart and good looking. Ok, fine, that last bit may have been added.
Like many other QuirkStars, she sports a rather wacky nickname; Technowench. When not adding to her design portfolio, you’ll find this lady soaking up a bit of culture on Laughing Squid or perusing the awesome handmade crafts on Etsy. She’s got the spirit of a 12 year old and a penchant for My Little Ponies (and real horses, too) and if you’re wondering, yes, she still watches ThunderCats.
