Edward “you can just call me Mark” Sherrington graduated with a BSc in Economics and Sociology from Bristol University in 1977. He then spent 11 years at Unilever fulfilling the roles of Marketing Director and Global Category Leader. He went on to work with a partner to start and build The Added Value Group - a consultancy, market research, design and internal communication agency – which was later acquired by WPP.
In 2002, Mark was invited to join the newly-formed board of SABMiller PLC as Global Marketing Director for a pre-agreed 3 year assignment that was extended to 4 years. He then moved his family to Cape Town and has spent the time since leaving SABMiller writing and publishing business titles (sogiants.com and Marksherrington.com) and acting in various advisory and consultancy roles.
In Mark’s opinion, the Internet represents a new frontier that will drive the most interesting developments in open business and in society and he’s very excited by all things online.
Aside from his role as Non Executive Chairman, Mark advises the Senior Team and lends a hand whenever we need it. He offers insight and advice that can only come from years of solid experience in the marketing industry – and he gives it freely:) Bringing enthusiasm and this experience to the Quirk dynamic, Mark is bubbling over with excitement about the possibilities that lie ahead.
When Mark’s not hard at work, you’ll find him on the golf course, indulging in his guilty pleasure - fast cars - or spending time with his family and their 2 terribly cute dogs. His most prized possession is Richard Hill’s signed rugby shirt, the only person he’s afraid of is his wife and he can’t live without checking his favourite sites: 2OceansVibe, TED.com and Telegraph.co.uk everyday.
