Justin Spratt brought spring early when he joined the Jozi QuirkStation on 31 August 2010. The Aussie (we try not to hold that against him) grew up idolising none other than Bill Gates and dreamed of becoming a Wall Street trader.
He got stuck in at the University of KwaZulu-Natal where he completed a BCom in Economics and Finance, with Honours in Finance and then went on to do an MBA in Strategy and Finance from the Gordon Institute of Business Science. Justin literally grew up around computers – his Mother was a Microsoft trainer and his Dad worked at IBM (now we see where the Bill Gates fascination comes from). Drawing on this background, this tech and web fundi began blogging before it was even a word (check out his more recent musings here: www.sandboxsavant.com).Before joining Quirk, Justin was General Manager of three portfolios at service provider, Internet Solutions, which entailed working on mobile solutions, Wi-Fi and managing www.islabs.co.za.
He can’t live without The Wall Street Journal, The Economist and Twitter. Justin’s friends describe him as passionate and untiring and when he gets some time off, he likes to kick back and enjoy reading and writing. He adores his Jack Russell Elvis, watching Arrested Development and using his brain. Justin would overhaul the education system and make creativity and problem solving central to this. It’s clear that Spratty loves what he does and he does it WELL, which is why we’re super excited about his QuirkStar status.
