Having always been fascinated with advertising and the Internet, Heidi had to settle for studying a bachelor of Journalism at Rhodes University, followed by a post-grad Diploma in Marketing Management because it seemed as though the world had not yet cottoned on to eMarketing (looks of astonishment all round).
After cutting her teeth at a web development company in Durban, Heidi moved to the northern German city of Bremen, and spent two years embracing the German culture that is schnapps, snowboarding and zwetschgen knoedel. She also dressed in a suit every day and taught Business English to German Executives. By no means is this an easy task, but it did prepare her for her role as Quirk's Minister of eMarketing eDucation.
The sweet taste of Guinness prompted Heidi to move to Dublin in 2005 where she worked as an Online Marketing Executive at mobile telecommunications giant 02 and then later at leading Irish digital marketing agency Cybercom. She had great craic working on brands such as Diet Coke, Carlsberg and Guinness.
Now, back in South Africa, Heidi admits that there are things that she misses, such as weekend snowboarding getaways and cheap Ryan-air flights to Italy. So, she consoles herself with other hobbies: cycling, cooking, and eating the things she cooks - preferably with friends and over a glass of wine.

"eMarketing is a complex business. If you can get it right the return on investment can beat any other form of direct marketing by a long long way. It is essential that you at least know the basics. The seminar that I attended hosted by Quirk provided those basics and a lot more. Armed with the knowledge that our company has now - I believe we will be well ahead of the competition within the next few months." – Nazz A, Hypercubic Solutions
Is your site: search engine friendly, accessible, useable? Yes, No, Maybe? A Quirk site audit will determine all this and more.
