Craig started tapping away in BASIC on a ZX Spectrum computer 21 years ago, and things just haven't been the same since. After progressing to a PC and the big wired world, he graduated with a BSc. Eng. and moved into the telecommunications field as a qualified engineer, putting up radio towers (of all things).
A change of career into focused software development using C++ followed before he adopted Java as his medium for implementing the ideas that created Quirk's technology. He joined Quirk as CTO in 2001 and became CEO in 2005 following international expansion. Craig is also responsible for SearchStatus, an extension for the popular browser Firefox. SearchStatus has achieved some minor fame in the search industry, due in the most part to the suggestions and support from its users amongst which it can claim some notable names.
Craig believes in leadership from the front, daring differentiation and continuous innovation, amongst a host of other wordy euphuisms. An outdoor lifestyle, worn guitar and trusty bottle of whiskey complete his arsenal.
Craig has passed the GAIQ (Google Analytics Individual Qualification).

I attended the WebPR conference in JHB in March. Just a quick note to all of you at Quirk with HUGE congratulations – this was one of the first conferences I have attended where I was riveted for the entire day and took away a lot of new knowledge. What you are doing for the industry is highly commendable and it’s a pity more PR professionals are not harnessing the power of the web. I’m a web freak and as such we had already started implementing more online driven exposure with a number of clients but the tools I took away from the discussions will allow us to push this medium a great deal more.
Thanks again and keep up the good work! - Melissa A, Black Khaki
