Quirk's latest addition to the design team is a man of many paradoxes. Some call it multiple personality disorder; we call it 'quirky'. And what good is a designer without a creative quirk (so to speak) or two? On the one hand, Blaize likes 'stuff' - usually stuff that carries a fancy brand name. Not only is he a man who values his assortment of shoes and his numerous pairs of Levis, but he also boasts a collection of Guess watches.

But then there's the surfing. Surfers are not generally that big on 'stuff'. They have longish hair, seldom wear shoes and say 'bru' a lot. Blaize wasn't just a casual wannabe sit-on-the-beach-and-think-about-surfing kind of surfer either. Until he hurt his back (which probably had nothing to do with his minor brushes with the police), he actually surfed on the Western Cape team.

And then there are the Pit Bulls. Blaize has two of them; albeit brand name carrying ones - Carver Pit Bulls. Mean, snarling vicious ones that seem completely out of character with his seemingly peace-loving nature. His love for all things hardcore (except for porn, we hope) does not end there, either. This lad's favourite TV show is American Choppers. For those not in the know, it's about big men with tattoos building motorcycles. Pretty macho stuff.

Fortunately for us, there is more to Blaize than the sum of his contradictions. His training in design and web development and his passion for what he does will stand him in good stead for a bright future at Quirk. With his fresh approach to design, his creative ideas and his commitment to hard work, Blaize is an undeniable asset to the Cape Town QuirkStation.
