Social Networking - You can never have too many friends
Wikipedia defines social networking as focusing on the "building and verifying of online social networks for communities of people who share interests and activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others, and which necessitates the use of software."
Social networking is the IN thing at the moment with users from all over the world registering accounts on sites like Facebook and MySpace. Essentially they are sites which allow users to create personal profiles and then interact with friends through chat, blogging and media sharing.
Not only do social networking sites allow you to interact with the members of your own virtual rolodex; they allow you to extend beyond your personal network, into your secondary and tertiary contacts, your friends-of-friends.
There are a multitude of social networking sites out there with new ones emerging all the time and it can get a little overwhelming - if you're really interested in social networking you need to embrace it - only once you are in the game will you understand its rules and benefits.
Most of these social networking sites were thought to be the domain of teenagers but this is changing rapidly and the focus is shifting to an adult and business audience. It really is something you need to explore to fully understand.
