Quirk wins top international innovation award

Quirk is taking on the world, winning our first international accolade this week.

Quirk received the E-consultancy Innovation Award for Innovation in SEO & Natural Search for our South African Tourism (SAT) Google Earth Layer, (http://earth.southafrica.net/). The layer is the 3rd official tourism layer to be integrated into the Google Earth core.

“It’s fantastic to see the international community acknowledging the work coming out of South Africa. As one of the largest European awards in innovation, with judges from prestigious companies like Apple, the BBC and Whatif!, we are tremendously proud of our achievements and look forward to showing the world what South Africa is capable of,” says the triumphant Rob Stokes, Group CEO of Quirk eMarketing.

“Quirk eMarketing’s work with the South African Tourism website was the stand-out winner of the SEO category of the Innovation awards. All the judges felt that the tie-up with Google Earth was a highly innovative way of driving engagement, which proved itself to be extremely effective in driving links and improving natural search visibility,” says Linus Gregoriadis, Head of Research, E-consultancy.

South African Tourism (SAT), the official destination marketing organisation for South Africa, engaged Quirk for our innovative and fresh approach to SEO.

“The South African Tourism Google Earth layer is one of the many innovative eMarketing initiatives which showcase South Africa as world class destination for travellers. We are very pleased that South African Tourism’s cutting edge eMarketing initiatives are recognised on a global level and we hope that our many other projects in this area will receive the same recognition from our colleagues in the eMarketing industry. Google and Quirk have been instrumental in making this happen – it’s great to see South African talent delivering on this level,” says Bronwen Auret, Online Marketing Specialist,South African Tourism.

“The concept had all the elements the judges were looking for – it was innovative, interesting and had a high user engagement - all of which are necessary elements in attracting high value organic links. With Google’s 350 million users across the world, combined with the uniqueness of the medium, we could be confident that the SAT Google Earth layer would deliver a level of organic search engine success unparalleled by any other media solution,” enthuses Stokes.
